Task M 3: Total
Quality Management: Second Tranche of Implementation
Respondents to the Project's questionnaire disclosed a low rate of usage of TQM
processes. Yet TQM is widely considered to be beneficial in improving customer
satisfaction and hence business performance measured as market share and
profitability, especially in diverse and complex organisations.
The Project will investigate the extent to which TQM is actually in use in
railways, evaluate the benefits that it can offer to the various railway
organisational units, and consider the human issues involved in achieving
implementation and full exploitation of the benefits.
